COMMISSIONS
Every commission begins with a story, and every painting has the ability to hold a memory. With time, the details of a place, a season, or a moment can begin to fade. Through paint, I hope to preserve what matters most, creating something you can return to and cherish for years to come.
My hope is that each painting becomes more than an image, capturing a fleeting moment of creation and inviting you to slow down, notice, and remember the beauty that has been given to us.
I would be honored to hear your story. Please fill out the form below to begin your commission inquiry.
A FEW DETAILS
GETTING STARTED: Begin by filling out the form below with your idea and any details that may help bring your painting to life, such as preferred orientation, colors, reference photos, or other paintings you love. Once I receive your inquiry, I’ll reach out to arrange a time to discuss your vision in more detail and determine whether we’re a good fit to work together. Good communication is an important part of bringing your story to life, whether that’s a quick phone call, text, or email, we can connect in whatever way works best for you.
Reference: A good reference can make all the difference in bringing a memory to life. However, not every beautiful photograph translates well into a painting. Please include any photos or references you have, and we can discuss which will work best for your piece.
Style: As an artist I enjoy exploring a variety of styles and approaches to painting, though some may fall outside my experience or comfort zone. I’m always happy to discuss your vision and explore what might be possible. Transparency is important to me, and if I feel I’m not the right artist to bring your idea to life, I’ll be honest with you from the start.
Medium: My primary experience is in watercolor, oil, and graphite, but I’m open to exploring other mediums depending on the vision for your piece. If you have something specific in mind, please include it in your inquiry, and we can discuss the possibilities.
PAYMENT: Once we’ve agreed on the details of your commission, I’ll send an invoice for a 50% deposit to reserve your place and cover initial materials. The remaining balance will be due upon completion, before your painting is shipped or delivered. I currently accept Zelle, mailed check, or cash. More information about pricing can be found below.
PROCESS: Once your deposit has been received, I’ll create an initial sketch for your approval before beginning the painting. This gives us an opportunity to make sure our visions align before moving forward. Depending on the complexity of your piece, I may reach out throughout the process to discuss additional details or make sure everything is coming together as envisioned. Once your painting is complete, I’ll send the final invoice along with a photograph of the finished piece, unless you’d prefer to see it in person first.
TIMEFRAME: Most commissions take approximately 3 weeks to 4 months to complete, depending on the size, medium, time of year, and complexity of the piece. Watercolor paintings generally have a shorter turnaround, while oil paintings require additional drying time. If you have a particular date or occasion in mind, please include it in your inquiry, and we can discuss a timeline that works for both of us.
SHIPPING: Shipping and handling are not included in the initial deposit and will be calculated separately. Paintings are shipped unframed in appropriate protective packaging, either in a box or envelope depending on the piece. If you would like your painting matted or framed, I’m happy to discuss options and provide an estimate based on the size, style, and materials. Once the remaining balance and any applicable shipping costs have been paid, your painting will be carefully packaged and sent on its way.
PRICING
All prices listed below are estimates based on common sizes and styles. Each commission is unique, and the final price may vary depending on the complexity of the piece, subject matter, and medium. Please include as many details as possible in your inquiry, and I’ll be happy to provide a personalized quote.
The price reflects the painting itself. Shipping and handling are not included in the prices below. Local drop-off is available at no additional charge.
WATERCOLOR: loose, textured, and full of movement, watercolor has a beautiful way of capturing the atmosphere of a place, the quiet details of a meaningful moment, or a subject you wish to keep close. It is especially well suited for animal portraits, allowing the character and personality of each subject to shine through delicate details and expressive brushwork.
OIL: Rich in color, layered, and timeless, oil painting offers a traditional quality meant to be treasured for generations. Though it requires more time and patience, its depth and subtle layers create a quiet, lasting presence. Oil is especially suited for portraits, expansive landscapes, and meaningful still lives, bringing warmth, character, and a sense of history into your home.
OTHER: have something else in mind? I’m always happy to discuss other mediums, dimensions, or ideas that may fall outside the options listed above. Please include your thoughts in the inquiry form below, and we can explore what might work best for your piece.
